EPISODE 1 - AMERICAN FORESTS

 

OBSTACLE: REI is an outdoor Co-Op with over 20 million members that share a common goal: advocating for a healthy outdoors. But it takes more than non-profits to create a healthier outdoors.

Change starts when individuals take one step towards better.

SOLUTION: WMX created a video series, Better Is Out There, to drive awareness of REI’s Cooperative Action Network and to solidify REI’s connection not just to environmental recreation and stewardship, but also with climate action. Our series tells the stories of the people and organizations that push climate initiatives forward and shift the way we interact with our urban environments.

To engage our audience we structured the series as a ‘teaching-moment,’ with our young host opening the conversation in a generous, non-expert way. Climate influencer Kiana Kazemi hosted a conversation on cooperative climate action with different organizations working for a better future. Our series introduces two orgs – Trust for Public Land and American Forests – and encourages viewers to get involved in climate action in their own lives, because even small actions make a big difference.
